About SymbolArchive

SymbolArchive is a free reference and generation tool for the special characters people actually need while writing online: stars, hearts, arrows, math notation, currency symbols, Greek letters, Roman numerals, keyboard icons, flags, and a long list of emoji and small pictograms. Instead of searching your operating system's character map or copying a symbol from an old forum post, you can browse everything here by category, search by name, and copy it with one click.

The site also offers a small text tool built on the same character sets. The Nickname Generator converts anything you type into bold, italic, script, fraktur, double-struck, circled, small caps, upside-down, and many other Unicode letter styles; it also offers a set of decorative framing options (brackets, star flourishes, and the like) popular for usernames and bios.

Why does this site exist?

The vast majority of the symbols shown here aren't images — they're ordinary Unicode characters, meaning they can be copied and pasted anywhere plain text is accepted: chat apps, social media bios, spreadsheets, code comments, or documents. The "stylized" letters produced by the Nickname Generator work the same way: each one isn't a font, but an actual Unicode code point standing in for a Latin letter. That's why they keep their appearance when pasted somewhere without special font support; for the same reason, they can sometimes look unexpected on systems with incomplete Unicode font support.
